Phoebe the dog

Phoebe is a female Labrador Retriever, born on March 20, 2025. She comes from a purebred lineage, with her pedigree officially certified. While her papers tell us about her bloodline, what really matters is her gentle temperament, her curiosity, and the way she quickly became part of our family.

We first met Phoebe in Shenzhen, after returning from a family vacation. She was waiting for us in a green crate, a little cautious and unsure, but calm. That was our very first encounter, and also the moment we decided she would be with us.

On her first day at home, we let her stay indoors freely, but with a leash trailing behind. We worried about accidents, so the leash helped us guide her if necessary. She explored the rooms, lay down on the cool floor, and began to understand her new environment.

Soon, a playpen arrived. Phoebe started crate and toilet training. To prevent boredom, we gave her a treat-dispensing toy, which quickly became her favorite. She learned not only rules but also how to entertain herself.

Phoebe met our two children, Mike and Peyton, and from the very beginning showed patience. Even when the boys hugged her tightly or leaned on her, she tolerated them with calm acceptance. Although she was younger in age, she seemed more mature in spirit, quietly taking her place as their companion.

Phoebe has many small habits that make her unique. She often sleeps with her eyes half open, and sometimes her legs twitch as if she is running in her dreams. At home, she is endlessly curious—whenever there is a sound or movement, she will walk over to check. She especially enjoys following the children around, never wanting to miss out on what they are doing.

On one hot day, we took her outdoors and later into a restaurant. While we ate, Phoebe stretched out on the cool floor and quickly fell asleep. It was a simple moment that showed how secure she felt when we were nearby.

Her first bath at the pet shop was not easy. Phoebe was anxious and fearful, worried we might leave her behind. We stayed with her the whole time, and slowly she calmed down. That day reminded us how much she relies on our presence to feel safe.

From a cautious puppy in a crate to an active member of our household, Phoebe has grown into a gentle, curious, and loving companion. She is more than a pet; she is a part of our children’s childhood, a presence in our daily routines, and a reminder of responsibility and affection. Her story with us has just begun, and each day adds a new chapter.
